Tata Motors has reported 15 per cent increase in its January sales this year at 75,423 units compared with 65,478 units sold in the same month of 2010.

The homegrown firm’s total passenger vehicles sales in the domestic market stood at 30,212 units last month, up by 15 per cent over the same month last year, the company said in a statement.

Small car Nano sales during the month stood at 6,703 units, up by 68 per cent. ‘Indica’ reported sales of 10,591 units, down by 8 per cent.

‘Indigo’ family recorded sales of 8,456 units, a rise of 17 per cent over the same month in the previous year. Sales of Sumo, Safari, Aria and Venture range increased by 26 per cent to 4,462 units.

In the domestic commercial vehicles segment, the company’s sales increased by 12 per cent, as it sold 40,263 units last month compared with 35,957 units sold in January 2010.

While light commercial vehicles’ sales during the month stood at 23,776 units, a growth of 17 per cent over the previous year, medium and heavy commercial vehicles’ sales stood at 16,487 units, up by 5 per cent.

Exports grew by 51 per cent to 4,948 units in January 2011 compared with 3,276 units in January 2010.
