Tamil Nadu Newsprint and Papers Ltd has reported a 33 per cent growth in net profit for the first quarter of the current year compared with the corresponding quarter of the previous year. TNPL reported net profit of ₹69.51 crore (₹52.25 crore) on total income of ₹756.42 crore (₹647.63 crore) for the quarter ended June 30.
Total expenses were up at ₹622.86 crore (₹548.40 crore) with increase in power, fuel and water charges at ₹125.43 crore (₹103.73 crore); materials consumed ₹225.65 crore (₹184.14 crore) and employee benefit expenses growing ₹63.29 crore (₹48.73 crore).
The company produced 24,584 tonnes of paper board and production is gradually being stepped up, said a press release.
