Toyo Engineering Corporation (Toyo Japan) and MODEC, Inc. (MODEC) have inaugurated their new Global Capability Centre (GCC), TOYO MODEC OFS India Private Ltd (OFS India) in Bengaluru. The centre currently has nearly 200 employees and plans to expand its workforce to 750 over the next three years. Hiring will focus on engineering roles in mechanical, civil structures, electrical, and instrumentation.

OFS India is a joint venture company established in 2022 between Toyo Engineering India Private Ltd (Toyo India), a subsidiary of Toyo Japan and Offshore Frontier Solutions Pte. Ltd. (OFS), a MODEC Group company. The company has plans to integrate procurement services in the future.

“The GCC in Bengaluru will serve as a strategic hub to support global projects, enhance engineering capabilities, and drive digital transformation. It also represents a long-term commitment to India, creating hundreds of high-quality job opportunities and contributing to the country’s growth role as a global engineering and innovation centre,” said Takashi Kawahara, Managing Director of Toyo India and Chairman of OFS India, at a press conference. “We still need to hire many more people, including those with more experience, skills, and talent. So, we need senior engineers, but also junior engineers,” he added.

“This joint venture is a reflection of our collective belief in the power of collaboration and the limitless possibilities that arise when we combine our strengths and expertise,” said Eiji Hosoi, President & CEO, Toyo Japan.

Two phases

The GCC is being developed in two phases. Phase one can accommodate 450 professionals, of which 200 have already been onboarded. Phase two, which will add 300 more seats, is expected to be completed by September 2025.

“By establishing a presence here, we are embracing an environment that encourages innovation, agility, and collaboration—qualities essential to meeting the increasingly complex and sophisticated needs of our

FPSO projects. This will help us scale with speed, maintain execution quality, and deliver smarter, more efficient solutions to our global clients,” said Hirohiko Miyata, President & CEO, MODEC.

MODEC, Inc., headquartered in Tokyo, focuses on engineering, procurement, construction, and operation of floating production systems for the offshore oil and gas industry. Under the MODEC group, Offshore Frontier Solutions Singapore was started to provide engineering, procurement, construction, and project management services for offshore oil and gas projects. The company already had outsourcing engineering partners in India.

Japan-based Toyo Engineering Corporation is an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company that specializes in providing comprehensive solutions for the oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical, fertilizer, and power industries.
