VA Tech WABAG Ltd, a Chennai-based multinational company in water and waste water treatment and recycling, signed an MoU with Indian Institute of Technology - Kanpur to develop sustainable villages on banks of the Ganges.
S Varadarajan, Director and Chief Growth Officer, WABAG, said in the press statement, “We will abate direct discharge of untreated waste water from villages and promote better sanitation practices.”
These sustainable villages, Model Ganga Grams, would be a part of Namami Gange and Swachh Bharat programmes launched by the Government of India . The initiative is supported by National Mission for Clean Ganga, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Rural Development and Ministry of Gram Panchayat, New Delhi.
