Zepto has scaled its fresh category by four-fold in just 12 months, from 6.4 lakh to 22.1 lakh units sold per day. The company has achieved this scale through direct sourcing, tech-led procurement, and smart last-mile handling.

In a LinkedIn post, Aadit Palicha, Co-founder and CEO of Zepto, said the company has crossed 22 lakh units of fruits and vegetables sold per year, up from 6.4 lakh last year. Interestingly, fruits and vegetables are the largest consumption category in India, and Palicha noted that Zepto plans to build a large-scale supply chain over the next 10 years.

The platform now works directly with thousands of farmers across over 70 collection centre located hubs where produce is graded, packed, and dispatched within 12 hours of harvest.

In 2023, the company launched Zepto Bloom, a proprietary sourcing intelligence platform that offers real-time mandi price benchmarks, automated vendor scoring, and dynamic procurement planning. In other words, for farmers it digitises all processes from sowing to selling.

The app is a one-stop solution catering to the holistic range of farmers’ needs which range from tracking the crop cycle (sowing to harvesting) to receiving seamless payments on the sale of the produce, a statement from the company said. This gives farmers transparency, better pricing power, and predictability which were missing in the traditional mandi system.
