It is small-scale sector that pump in large investments and create more jobs, a senior government official has said.

Addressing a meeting of Confederation of Women Entrepreneurs (COWE), B Suresh Babu, Additional Director, Commissioner of Industries, has said that about 4,400 units of medium and large industries had invested Rs 96,000crore in the State over a period of time, proving employment to about 10 lakh people.
“On the other hand, about 1.85 lakh small-scale units invested Rs 24,000 crore, generating 20 lakh jobs.

Small-scale units generate more employment than medium and large scale units. Hence, we must encourage this sector,” he said.
The COWE organised the meeting on Saturday to provide information to budding women entrepreneurs on various government schemes and subsidies.

An equal amount of subsidies are sanctioned every year to the units located in rural areas,” a COWE press release quoting him, said.
He asked COWE to organise similar meetings in engineering and management colleges.
Venkata Swamy, Chief Manager of National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC) said the units registered with it were eligible to get many benefits when they participated in tenders floated by various Government departments and public sector units.
