The disposal of sludge generated by the processing units in Tirupur has for long been a contentious issue. However, dyeing houses and the exporting community can now heave a sigh of relief with the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board giving its nod for establishment of a secure and safe landfill at Nallur.
Hailing the State Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa for the support, Tirupur Exporters’ Association President A Sakthivel said the CETPs (common effluent treatment plants) in Tirupur would not have reached the current processing stage without the Government’s support.
While stating thus, the TEA President said the knitwear industry would put maximum efforts to enhance the development of the cluster.
