Mr Adesh Sharma has taken charge as the Chief Administrative Officer, Construction, South Western Railway (SWR), Bangalore. According to a SWR release, Mr Sharma is an officer of the Indian Railway Engineering Service and was instrumental in commissioning of Hassan-Mangalore project for passenger trains in his capacity as chief engineer. He has worked in railways in various capacities such as Executive Director (Vigilance), Railway Board, Chief Engineer, Construction, South Western Railway, Divisional Railway Manager, Hubli and Chief Safety Officer, South Central Railway. – Our Bureau
FKCCI welcomes bill to punish officials

The Federation of Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FKCCI) has welcomed the proposed bill to punish officials if services are not delivered on time. In a release Mr J.R. Bangera, President, FKCCI, said the proposed bill by the State Government to punish government officials if the services are not delivered on time was long overdue and the present decision of the Government to introduce it is a welcome measure. “This will minimise corruption particularly in the lower rungs of the ladder and help the public in getting efficient services. If the officer responsible fails to provide the service in time he’ll have to pay a fine of Rs 500 a day to a maximum of Rs 5,000. This Legislation comes at a time when social activist Anna Hazare is demanding a citizen’s charter for all Government Departments that imposes penalty for delayed services,” said Mr Bangera. – Our Bureau
TAGMA calls to reduce large scale imports

Tool and Gauge Manufacturers Association (TAGMA) has urged the Government to reduce the large scale imports and to strengthen the domestic tool room industry by initiating right steps. In a release, TAGMA said the long-term outlook for India remains positive, with IMF forecasting global growth for 2011 at four per cent. The association is liaisoning with the Ministry of Heavy Industry in preparation of the report for the 12th Five-Year Plan to increase manufacturing growth rate and to create more employment, increase manufacturing contribution to 25 per cent of the GDP. TAGMA’S eighth biennial Die and Mould India Exhibition will be held from April 19-22 in 2012 at Bombay Exhibition Centre, Goregaon, Mumbai.
