The Arecanut Research and Development Foundation (ARDF) will conduct the third edition of Krishi Yantra Mela (agri machinery fair) at Puttur in Dakshina Kannada district from January 24-26.
Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, K Padmanabha, Managing Trustee of ARDF, and President of Central Arecanut and Cocoa Marketing and Processing Cooperative Ltd, said that ARDF had conducted two agri machinery fairs in 2009 and 2012. Many farmers were benefited from both these events.
The proposed agri machinery fair is likely to witness the participation of around four lakh people during the three-day event.
Apart from the manufacturers of agri machineries, representatives from central agencies such as the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), Central Plantation Crops Research Institute (CPCRI), and the Horticulture Departments of Karnataka and Kerala will participate in the event, he said.
Organisers have decided to set up around 240 stalls at the fair. Of that, around 70 stalls have already been booked, and the organisers are getting queries for other stalls, he said.
The Union Agriculture Minister, Radhamohan Singh, will inaugurate the event on January 24, Padmanabha said.
