French firm Ceva has announced introduction of two vaccines to tackle two key diseases that cause losses to the poultry industry. The firm is going to sell the vaccines through CevaPolchem, a joint venture with India’s Polchem, according to Milind Limaye, Director of Ceva Polchem.

“Gumboro disease and Ranikhet disease result in a mortality rate of 2 per cent each in broilers. Besides the vaccines, we offer drug delivery systems that can inject the whole vaccine (up to 99.9 per cent) into the chick,” he told BusinessLine .

Milind Limaye was in the city in connection with the three-day Poultry India exhibition.The machine, which comes as a part of the package, lets the poultry staff to deliver vaccines to 1,500 chicks a day. The firm would source these vaccines from its facilities in the US and in Hungary.

The first set of vaccines from the firm is in the process of getting final approval from Indian regulators.
