The arrival of turmeric increased at Erode markets on Friday to 7,500 bags. Good number of hybrid turmeric from Dharmapuri arrived and the traders purchased almost all the hybrid turmeric at a higher price. The other local varieties too were procured at a reasonable price”, said Krishnamurthy, a trader. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the Salem Hybrid finger variety was at ₹6,862-8,201 a quintal; root variety ₹6,289-7,255. The new finger turmeric fetched ₹5,809-8,169; root variety ₹5,299-7,159 a quintal. Of the arrival of 5,292 bags, 3,468 were sold.
