Nearly 94 per cent of the offer at sale 24 of the auctions of Coonoor Tea Trade Association was sold despite the average price rising to ₹107.01 a kg from previous week’s ₹99.70 due to increased demand.

A bought leaf factory Homedale Tea Factory topped the entire auctions when its Broken Pekoe grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, was bought by Ganesh Enterprises for ₹302 per kg. Homedale Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe grade, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, followed at ₹300.

These were the only grades which fetched ₹300 and more per kg and their prices were almost three times the average price of all teas at this week’s auctions.

In the CTC dust tea auctions, two grades of Homedale Estate, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped at ₹281 each. Pinewood Estate got ₹234 and Vigneshwar Estate ₹218.
