Even as the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) on Monday announced that its board has removed Chairman Vipul Chaudhary with effect from January 11, the latter moved the Supreme Court against his ouster.

Chaudhary has challenged the Gujarat High Court order that dismissed his appeal against the implementation of the no confidence motion moved by the board members.

“Chaudhary has challenged the High Court order in the Supreme Court and the matter is slated to be listed for Wednesday,” a highly placed source close to the development told Business Line .

“The Federation cannot take any action till the matter is pending before the Supreme Court. They will not be able to appoint a new chairman,” said the source.

Earlier, GCMMF Managing Director R. S. Sodhi, in a letter, said Chaudhary ceased to be the chairman after the Gujarat High Court upheld the no-confidence motion passed against him.

No-confidence motion On December 5 last year, the Board of Directors of GCMMF had unanimously passed a no-confidence motion against Chaudhary without stating any specific reason. Chaudhary had challenged the move in the Gujarat High Court. On January 10, a Division Bench of Justices R. R. Tripathi and Mohinder Pal had dismissed Chaudhary’s appeal and allowed the no-confidence motion passed by the GCMMF Board.

Chaudhary, however, continues to be the chairman of the Dudhsagar Dairy of Mehsana District Milk Producers’ Union.
