Southern Railway will run a weekly special between Chennai Central and Mangalore Central from February 28 to March 28 to clear the extra rush of passengers. A press release said here that Train No. 06049, Chennai-Mangalore weekly special, will leave Chennai Central at 8.40 p.m. on Mondays and arrive Mangalore Central at 1.45 p.m. the next day.
Train No. 06050, Mangalore-Chennai weekly special, will leave Mangalore Central at 4.20 p.m. on Tuesdays and arrive at Chennai Central at 9.20 a.m. the next day.
The trains will stop at Arakkonam, Katpadi, Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode, Tiruppur, Coimbatore, Palakkad, Shoranur, Kuttipuram, Tirur, Kozhikkode, Vadakara, Thalassery, Kannur, Payyanur, Kanhangad and Kasaragod. Train No. 06050 will stop at Perambur also, it said.
