General insurers' gross premium collection surges by 29 per cent in November
General Insurance companies reported a surge in gross premium collection by 29 per cent to Rs 4,313 crore in November 2011, compared to Rs 3,345 crore, in the same month a year ago, according to the latest data released by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority (Irda).
Life insurance companies reported a decline in new business premium by 18.9 per cent to Rs 4,730.72 crore in November 2011. During the month, the private life insurance industry reported a decline in new business premium by 22.3 per cent to Rs 1653.9 crore and the state owned Life Insurance Corporation reported a decline in new business premium by 17.5 per cent to Rs 3076.76 crore.
