Jet Airways on Wednesday said that it has received notices for payment defaults from few aircraft lessors. While the airline did not give any other details, it said that the lessors are mindful of the challenges currently faced by the Indian aviation industry.
“Whilst the company is in the receipt of notices for payment delays/defaults from few aircraft lessors, they are mindful of challenges currently faced by the aviation industry and they have been supportive of the company’s efforts,” Jet Airways said in a BSE filing.
“We also wish to clarify that the company is current on its payments to Airports Authority of India and no show cause notice has been received by the company from AAI,” it added.
Jet Airways has been going through a financial crisis. It saw losses worsen in the quarter ended June 30 as the impact of a fuel price hike and the falling rupee weighed heavily on the carrier’s financial performance.
