It’s not every day a flagship dares to go ultra-thin without compromising on performance. But the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge walks this tightrope with surprising grace. I’ve been using the device for close to a month, and here are my thoughts on whether the S25 Edge is truly a sleek showstopper.

Design

Without doubt, it’s the renewed sleek design of the Samsung S25 Edge that truly stands out when I first use it. The phone is super thin, measuring only 5.8 mm in width. And light too, at 163 grams. The thin and lightweight structure makes it a joy to use, but the grip, without much bulk to hold on to, also takes some getting used to. The smartphone is built with a titanium frame for durability and lightness, with the rear panel protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2

Display

The Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge sports a sizeable 6.7-inch OLED display. It offers variable refresh rates of up to 120 Hz and HDR10+ for compatible content. The main display is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 and sports a snappy under-display fingerprint reader. I cue up Flex X Cop, a South Korean cop comedy-drama, where Ahn Bo Hyun plays a spoilt rich heir who finds himself serving time as a police officer in the local police station. Friction with his senior, played by Park Ji Hyun, makes for much drama and laughter throughout the series. The colours really pop on the OLED display, and the volume is satisfyingly loud even at moderate levels on the stereo speakers. The only complaint would be that the acoustic doesn’t sound deep enough with music, it favours trebles and mids, and lacks the punch of bass notes.

AI Features

Samsung introduces a new update to the Multimodal AI Agents feature. It gains a visual engine so that you can engage in a visual conversation with the AI assistant. Just point the camera at an object and ask a question about it. For instance, you can ask the Galaxy AI to determine the right washing temperature for your clothes. The visual engine is powered by Google’s Gemini AI.

Camera

The Galaxy S25 Edge features a 200 MP main camera with auto-focus and a 12 MP ultrawide lens. As is the case with most Samsung flagship devices, this one, too, delivers some impressive snaps. The photos taken in daylight are well-saturated, rich, and vibrant. Nighttime photos don’t disappoint either, they’re well-exposed and look good despite a bit of noise in some. The only niggle here is sometimes it took me a couple of attempts to tap and truly get the subject in focus in Portrait mode, with only the background blurred. Some of these results would be soft around the edges, but the ones it did get right turned out great.

The 12 MP front camera delivered some sharp selfies without beautification effects, staying true both to the skin tone and skin texture of the subject.

The smartphone is capable of recording in 8K resolution at 30 fps with its main camera, and delivers some stable, rich videos in general. In post effects, there’s now an AI audio eraser, which lets me tweak the sounds captured to highlight, for example, the speaker’s voice in a sound byte and minimise the noise of traffic passing by.

Tech Specs

The Samsung S25 Edge runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, and the latest Android 15 OS with the One UI 7 overlay. It sports 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage, with up to an additional 8 GB RAM booster at the software level. As is expected of a flagship phone, multitasking was smooth and seamless. Most games rendered smoothly, and the phone never ran hot with extended usage. No matter how many tabs or apps I had open and switched between,   The brand has promised seven years of OS updates and seven years of security patches as well.

Battery

The smartphone runs on a 3,900 mAh battery, which might be considered a lower capacity than flagships and even some mid-range phones that typically now sport around 5,000 mAh batteries. However, in daily usage, I seldom found myself scampering for a charge in the middle of the day. My usage typically consisted of watching videos for up to an hour, streaming music for up to an hour or so, reading articles, and playing games; the smartphone kept me company for most part of a functional day.

The smartphone is compatible with 25 W charging capacity, and is rated at 15 W for wireless charging.

Verdict

At ₹1,09,999, the Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge is a bold bet on form over brute force. Its ultra-slim, lightweight titanium body is sure to impress you if you value cutting-edge design and a lightweight smartphone above all else. There’s a flagship-grade 6.7-inch OLED display, the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, 7 years of software support, and genuinely useful AI tools like visual search and Galaxy AI’s audio eraser.

That said, when stacked against rivals in terms of both price and features, there are cheaper phones in India that offer a bigger battery, a telephoto lens on the main camera setup, and even faster wired and wireless charging. Given these realities, it can be hard to justify the price tag unless you’re someone who wants a thin, premium Android flagship with a clean aesthetic and a unique AI toolkit, and maybe are a fan of the Samsung UI and Galaxy ecosystem.
