The Chairman of the Mormugao Port Trust (MPT), Mr P. Mara Pandiyan, has said that the modernisation of the mechanical ore handling plant of the port has been put on hold. In a recent gathering at the port, the Chairman said that all the employees will be taken into confidence and without their concurrence, nothing will be done.
The statement becomes significant in view of the objections raised by the employee unions to the proposed modernisation plans.
