New Mangalore Port has started the export of container cargo for Nestle India Ltd.
A press statement by New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) said here on Thursday that Nestle India Ltd has commenced routing of its export shipments of noodles and sauces through the port.
The company exported 11 containers of noodles to the UK and two to Australia from the port.
In addition to this, six containers of sauces were sent to Canada. Two vessels — m.v. Express Yamuna and m.v. Tiger Mango — handled these containers at the port. Representative of Nestle India Ltd have assured the regular volumes of containers through the port.
P. Tamilvanan, Chairman of NMPT, thanked Tapan Barua, Manager (Logistics) of Nestle India Ltd, and Jeethan of Cargolinks (logistic provider), for routing the cargo through the port. NMPT handled a total container cargo of 25,053 TEUs till September 26 of 2013-14, against 23,964 TEUs in the corresponding period the previous fiscal.
