With cancellation of trains, those who booked tickets online will soon get automatic refund of ticket fees.
IRCTC sees sudden hikes in online cancellations due to various incidents—such as the ongoing signal failure at Itarsi and recent Gujjar agitation. For instance, they see 15,000-20,000 cancellations due to such failures.
Ministry of Railways have decided to grant automatic refund of confirmed or reservation against cancellation e-tickets on cancellation of trains similar to wait-listed e-tickets stated a release.
This will become effective very shortly, added the release. In case of cancellation of trains, PRS counter ticket shall continue to be refunded across the reservation counter as per the existing provisions.
