Reliance Infrastructure (RInfra) said it has launched an online recharge facility for smart card users of its Hosur-Krishnagiri toll road corridor.

The smart card helps road users to swipe their cards at the toll plazas, instead of paying cash. Further, toll road commuters need not visit the plazas for card recharge.

RInfra said commuters availing the smart cards on the Hosur- Krishnagiri corridor can save about 35 per cent of the toll charges compared to the normal toll pass users. The smart cards are valid for one month.

Over 25,000 vehicles pass through the toll gate everyday. The card cost is Rs 100 and monthly toll charge Rs 1,735.

Lalit Jalan, CEO, Reliance Infrastructure, said, “This facility will allow commuters to recharge their smart cards whenever and wherever they wish to, and avoid visiting toll plazas and wait in long queues for recharging their cards.”

Jalan said that RInfra was close to implementing the globally prevalent electronic toll collection (ETC) system. Once ETC rolls out, users can recharge their tags using the same online recharge portal.

To avail the service, commuters should log on to RInfra’s road Web site ( www.relianceroads.com ) for making a one-time registration. They can then click on the ‘recharge the toll pass” option. .

Users have multiple options for making their payments. Payment through the portal is secured and assured by Bill Desk for any credit card. Once payment is made, users will receive an email and SMS alert. Users can also track their transaction history, vehicle details and pass type on the portal.
