Five days after the Air India aircraft crash, a total of 135 of those killed have been identified and 101 of bodies have been handed over to the nearest kin including those from Maharashtra, Patna and Rajasthan.
Four bodies have been taken to Maharashtra, one to Patna and three to Rajasthan (Udaipur-2 and Jodhpur-1), the state government said in an official release on Tuesday afternoon.
The mortal remains of other victims have been sent to various districts of Gujarat including Ahmedabad (30), Vadodara (13), Kheda (10), Anand (9), Bharuch (4), Gandhinagar (5), Mehsana (5), Surat (3), Aravalli (2).
While four of the victims have been taken to the Union territory of Diu, one each has been taken to Botad, Junagadh, Amreli, Mahisagar, Bhavnagar, Gir Somnath, Nadiad and Rajkot districts of the state.
The Gujarat government is yet to reveal the exact number of those killed in the crash on June 12 when an Air India passenger aircraft carrying 242 passengers to Gatwick in the United Kingdom, crashed near the Ahmedabad airport.
