Train services on Hassan-Mangaluru section, which were disrupted due to landslips between Subramanya Road and Sakleshpur stretch of the railway line on Tuesday, began on Wednesday.
The train services on Sakleshpur-Subramanya Road Ghat section were disrupted on Tuesday due to continuous slipping of loose soil along with boulders in form of slurry on tracks owing to incessant rains.
A press release by South Western Railway (SWR) zone said that train services restored on Wednesday morning with day-time trains running normally on the section.
Railway staff undertook massive restoration work at the location in hostile weather conditions to clear the slurry from the stretch of tracks between Shirivagilu and Subramanya Road railway stations on the ghat section, it said.
Hassan-Mangaluru section is the only direct railway link between Mangaluru and Bengaluru.
