‘Proper planning key for event management'

Event management can be seen by the students of management studies as potential business model in the field of communication, according to Mr K. Krishnagopal, founder and chief executive officer, Newdeal Advertising, Coimbatore.

Speaking after inaugurating the Business Line Club under the aegis of the Tata Photon at the Nehru Institute of Engineering and Technology here, he said the basic philosophy of event management was celebration and celebration, common to every section of society, symbolised communication. To make event management success, one has to meticulously plan and execute.

The role of event manager came in effectively visualising the hosting of event with aspects like what kind of money needed and where it should be deployed to derive the mileage out of it. The sense of timing the event, for example the food festivals or carnivals, would decide its success. All these required proper planning. There might be several good events that may fail to achieve the desired results because of the bad planning, said Mr Krishnagopal.

Of the emerging event management programmes in family segment, hosting theme wedding, according to Mr Krishnagopal, is fast catching up among high networth family.
