After petrol and diesel, oil companies hiked the price of non-subsidised LPG by ₹16.50 a cylinder on Tuesday, following a surge in international oil prices. On Monday, the price of petrol was hiked by ₹1.69 a litre and diesel by ₹0.50 a litre.
Non-subsidised 14.2 kg LPG cylinders will now cost ₹922.50 in Delhi, up from ₹906, as per the rates of Indian Oil Corporation, the country’s largest oil marketing company. In Kolkata, they will cost ₹966 and in Chennai ₹924
The price of subsidised cylinders remained unchanged at ₹414 in Delhi.
Non-subsidised LPG prices are for the cylinders that customers buy after using up their quota of 12 subsidised bottles a year.
While raising the prices, public sector oil marketing companies said they were suffering an under-recovery of ₹449.17 a cylinder on domestic LPG.
Trend reversedTuesday’s hike is the first in six months.
The price had been reduced by ₹107, to ₹1,134 a cylinder, on February 28. Five more cuts brought the price down to ₹906 a cylinder.
