The Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Friday there is no change in policy as far as subsidised LPG, kerosene and diesel are concerned.

He further said, there is no fresh proposal to increase LPG prices or to change the duty structure on diesel.

The Minister told Business Line that his Ministry wants to protect the interests of consumers and ensure that supplies of petroleum products continue in a hassle-free manner.

Categorically denying any move to tamper with the current mechanism, he said decisions have to be taken holistically, in consultation with the Finance Ministry.

Pradhan and his Ministry faced criticism for the recent hike in non-subsidised LPG prices by oil companies. The oil companies revise non-subsidised LPG prices in sync with international prices.

There were reports the Oil Ministry would move the Cabinet for raising kerosene and LPG prices as recommended by an expert committee.

According to the reports, the Oil Ministry would take the Kirit Parikh panel recommendation for raising kerosene prices by Rs 4-5 per litre and LPG by Rs 250 per cylinder to the Cabinet.

The reports said the Oil Ministry would propose to the Cabinet that diesel price hikes of 40-50 paisa a litre per month may be continued.
