Want to feel the pulse of social media? Are you struggling to get a hang of the myriad opinions and comments that are freely floating on the Web ?

SETU Software Systems, a Hyderabad-based start-up, which developed Veooz (pronounced views), says it is now possible to track conversations by bringing social media to one place. It aggregates and analyses the buzz around your favourite topics from social media networks.

For example if you type Yash Chopra on veooz.com, our search engine will in real time analyse the number of comments, sentiments, conversation on the well know Bollywood personality from networking Web sites such as facebook and twitter. It will give a gist — on the mood, trend of the comments, with data on views. It will also give views of celebrities or influential people, explained Prasad Pingali, Chief Executive Officer, SETU.

Its platform, claimed to be a first-of-its-kind free online offering, gives a unified view of the live sentiments, current trends on any topic of your interest. The social media monitoring and analytics tool has done analysis on user conversations of over 500 million topics, and has a processing rate of 100 million views a day, he told Business Line.

The results are expressed in terms of positive and negative via Veooz Live Sentiment. This is a real-time measure of social views on any selected topic. For example, a Live Sentiment of +70 per cent means 70 per cent of the opinions are positive, Prasad explained.

“Every day, we analyse 100 million comments, posts, trends on topics such as the Obama-Romney debate. We can process the data in real time from a post a minute ago to sometime back to come up with useful analysis.”

Started in 2008, the company is into natural language processing and search engines. It got a boost with the joining of Srini Koppolu as Chairman and angel investor.
