Edutor Technologies on Tuesday launched a handheld home learning device for K-10 school students.

The device, Edutor Advantage, is designed to give school students a measurable home learning advantage. “The touch-screen device is pre-loaded with a student's class-specific, curriculum-aligned content with an option to upgrade as the student moves to higher classes. In addition to subjects like maths, science, social studies and English, it also features yoga and karate,” Mr Ram Gollamudi, CEO of the company, told presspersons here.

He said the device is meant for CBSE students and within the next few months, a similar device for ISCE and SSC students will be launched. It also offers self-assessment option with practice tests and questions for every topic.

Edutor, which has been founded by graduates of IIT-Chennai and IIM, is also working with public bodies to improve delivery of education in government schools. Initially, the product is being launched in the southern States in a phased manner.

The device is priced at Rs 5,845. “The company is aiming to reach out to 30,000 students and revenues of about Rs 25 crore in a year,'' he said.

The company so far has invested about $ 2 million for developing the content and earmarked another $ 2 million for its marketing efforts.
