Australia-based spatial information technology provider AAM and Hyderabad-based SkyeIT Solutions on Monday announced an equal joint venture — AAM India — to provide geospatial solutions.

SkyeIT Solutions, headed by founder and CEO Srinivasa Murthy, offers services in areas such as Web-based enterprise applications, enterprise portals, business intelligence, systems integration, and technical audits, among others.

Mark Freeburn, Global CEO, AAM Group, said, “Joining hands with Murthy and creating AAM India furthers our capabilities in Asia, with offices in India, Singapore and Malaysia. The new entity will focus on data acquisition, processing, and delivery across the geospatial spectrum.”

The joint venture based in Visakhapatnam would receive investment of $10 million in three years, he said, adding that the initial staff strength in India would be 1,000. The joint venture targets revenue of $15 million in three years.

“We will provide 3D city models, similar to the AAM produced models for Singapore, Sydney and Hong Kong, to broad area geospatial information at a state-wide level to assist with infrastructure, urban design planning and the National Land Records Modernisation Programme,” Freeburn added.

Given the focus on smart cities, infrastructure development, among other initiatives, there is a huge growth opportunity in the market, Murthy said.

AAM was started in 1959 as ‘Australian Aerial Mapping’ and now has capabilities in business mapping, asset information, geographic information system (GIS) projects and enterprise solutions, and location-based services.
