Confused as to which lipstick or which blusher makes your face look up? Don’t depend on your neighbour’s advice. That anyway will never satisfy you. Better go to the virtual studio using your own PC or smartphone, upload your picture and try out a host of brands and shades they offer.

You can actually see for yourself how a particular beauty care product looks on you. You can even save the touched-up picture on your Facebook account to have peer review. You can place your order after checking feedback.

MedPlus, the pharmacy chain with over 1,000 outlets across the country, has launched the e-commerce venture called MedPlusBeauty.com to sell over 12,000 national and international brands online. The company will deliver products the same day, piggybacking on six warehouses in the country it set up for the pharmacy chain.

The company bets on the $10 billion Indian e-commerce market that is growing at a compounded annual growth rate of 47 per cent. With tier-ii cities fast catching up, the company expects this figure to grow to $100 billion by 2017.

“We see a big opportunity for a platform that overcomes the traditional limitations of brick and mortar like limited availability of products under one roof and absence of convenient payment and delivery options. Users can save the made up photos on their systems too,” Dr Mr Madhukar Gangadi, Chief Executive Officer of MedPlus, said.

He puts the cosmetic and personal care market size at Rs 5,000 crore, with skincare products alone contributing Rs 2,800 crore. This market is growing at an annual growth rate of 8 per cent.

The company gives the option of paying online or cash on delivery and same day delivery in most metros.
