Facebook has denied any hacking of its accounts in India. Responding to media reports and complaints from some of its users over alleged tampering of profile pictures, the social networking firm has asserted that the reports were inaccurate.
"This is not true. Users photos are not being transferred to an unwanted site and no accounts have been compromised," a Facebook executive said.
On Wednesday, reports complained change of profile pictures with vulgar images, putting them off the social network.
Agitated FB users, however, continue to pour in their complaints. While some expressed displeasure for having to answer difficult security questionnaire, others insisted that their accounts were hacked.
In a bid to douse hostile comments and uproar, Facebook has come out openly on Thursday on the issue. It chose not to talk on this subject on Wednesday.
"We always work to improve our systems to isolate and remove material that violates our terms and conditions. Protecting our users from spam and malicious content are always our top priority," it said.
It warned hackers that it would take action on those who is responsible for offending content.
