In an effort to beat Reliance Jio's free calls and cheaper data plans, Micromax Informatics and Bharti Airtel on Thursday tied-up to provide bundled services at an affordable price.
Micromax's latest smartphone Canvas 2, priced at ₹11,999, will come pre-bundled with Airtel 4G and will offer unmatched value with one-year of free 4G data and calling minutes at no additional cost.
"Customers purchasing the Canvas 2 device will enjoy free 1GB 4G data per day and unlimited calling to any network in India for one year, enabling them to enjoy the Canvas 2 experience," Micromax said.
The new Canvas2 is also the first smartphone in its price segment with a Corning Gorilla Glass 5, it said, adding that the users can avail themselves of unlimited calling (local/STD), 1 GB 4G/3G data per day (4G handset with 4G USIM) for one year as per standard fair usage policy (FUP) applicable.
The new smartphone also comes with one-year of screen replacement promise which is applicable from the date of activation, it said.
“Canvas2 was the first smartphone that we launched in our Canvas range of smartphones back in 2012. Over the last few months, as the Indian handset and telecom industry has undergone a dynamic shift, the focus of consumers is shifting from just the hardware, to overall connected experience," Rahul Sharma, Co-Founder, Micromax Informatics, said.
Therefore, to address the consumer needs, the company has partnered Airtel to offer a full-year of unlimited calls and 4G data with the new Canvas2, which will help drive large-scale adoption throughout the country.
Powered by a Quad-core 1.3GHz processor, the new Canvas 2 comes with an expandable memory of 64 GB. The phone has 3GB RAM and 16 GB ROM. It has 3050 mAh battery which will last up to 11 hours and has a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP selfie camera with wide angle lens, the company added.
It will be available across all leading retail outlets from Monday (May 15) and at Micromax's official website.
