MTS India plans to launch a slew of smartphones in December 2013, enabling customers to further utilize its 3G Plus network, an official said on Monday.
These phones will be Android version 4.1 and above and available in the price range of Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000, said Aasheesh Verma, Chief Operating Officer, Gujarat Circle, here after launching the MBlaze Ultra dongle on its 3G Plus telecom network in the state. He also launched a wi-fi dongle and unveiled tariff plans.
MTS is all set to become India’s first telecom operator to provide ubiquitous 3G Plus network coverage across all its circles of operations, he told reporters.
This network would provide data speeds of up to 9.8 Mbps, superior indoor penetration and outdoor coverage. “Our lower frequency band of 800 MHz enables us to provide better consistency of network and throughput.
MTS India currently has 10 million customers in the country, including 90,000 in Gujarat. They include 1.1 million data customers.
Verma said the company expects to break even in 2014.
