Turmeric futures prices fell by 1.77 per cent to Rs 7,766 per quintal at the futures trading today after speculators booked profit amid a weak trend at the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, turmeric for July delivery fell by Rs 140 or 1.77 per cent to Rs 7,766 per quintal with an open interest of 8,675 lots. Similarly, August contract declined by Rs 130 or 1.16 per cent to Rs 7,702 per quintal with a trade turnover of 4,810 lots.
Analysts said emergence of profit-booking by speculators along with subdued demand at the spot market mainly led to the fall in turmeric futures prices.
