Spot pepper prices remained unchanged on Tuesday despite tight supply amid good buying interest. A brine manufacturing company has reportedly bought 400 tonnes of green pepper at ₹170 a kg, market sources told BusinessLine . Karnataka was offering 550 GL pepper at ₹675/kg on cash-and-carry basis. On the terminal market, four tonnes of 575 GL high range pepper were traded at ₹690/kg. On the IPSTA, December contract remained steady, while the nearbys declined by ₹1,000 each a quintal to ₹65,000 and ₹60,000. Export prices were at $10,925 a tonne c&f for Europe and $11,175 for the US. In the international market, Vietnam was reportedly importing Indonesian pepper for re-exporting at $7,100-7,300 a tonne. Indonesia was not quoting and instead were asking for the buyers’ price. Brazil was quoting $6,700-6,800 a tonne, export sources said.
