State-owned trading trading firm PEC has invited bids for the import of 6,000 tonnes of pulses for the domestic market.
The last date for submission of bids is June 14 and a decision on awarding the contract will be taken on the same day, the company said on its website.
According to PEC, the bidder needs to source 4,000 tonnes of urad from Myanmar and 2,000 tonnes of desi chick peas from Australia of crop year 2011.
The port of delivery for the consignments is Mumbai and Chennai and it should reach the ports by July, 2011, it added.
PEC, MMTC and other state-run trading agencies like STC import different varieties of pulses on behalf of the government to augment domestic supply.
