Pepper prices ruled steady on matching demand and supply. Inter-State dealers and some of the leading exporters who have, of late, started trading on the domestic market were covering. Exporters bought 50 tonnes of semi-processed pepper at ₹710 a kg directly from resellers. In addition, 21 tonnes from the plains, Pulpally and Bathery (Wayanad) and the high ranges were traded for ₹690-710 a kg. . Spot prices remained unchanged at ₹69,000 (ungarbled) and ₹72,000 (garbled) a quintal. All the futures on the IPSTA remained steady. Export prices were at $11,300 a tonne c&f for Europe and $11,550 for the US. Malabar continued to remain out priced as all the other origins were ruling below $10,000.
