Even as demand in mustard oil and seeds continues to be lacklustre, mustard oil has been witnessing an uptrend for the past two weeks on weak arrival and rise in soyabean and mustard seeds futures. On Thursday, mustard oil in Indore mandis went for ₹668 (up ₹6 from last week). Similarly, in Neemuch and Morena mandis, mustard oil ruled higher at ₹660 (up ₹5 from last week) and ₹670 (up ₹5 from last week). In Rajasthan mandis also, mustard oil traded higher at ₹670 (up ₹5 from last week). Mustard ruled flat at ₹3,600-3,700 a quintal on subdued buying, while raida was at ₹3,500 (up ₹200 from last week). Plant deliveries for Jaipur line ruled higher at ₹3,965-70 (up ₹100 from last week) on slack availability of mustard seeds with crushers. Damage to mustard crop on account of rains and snowfall may not be as large as reported and its primarily speculators who have pushed up prices, said Kailash Agrawal, a broker.
