Gold futures opened on the higher side at Rs 29,510 per 10 grams against yesterday's close of Rs 29,473 in the absence of trading signals from the international markets.
The US markets are closed for Independence day celebrations.
The August contract may trade in a range between Rs 29,500 to Rs 29,610.
The appreciation of the rupee against the dollar may restrict sharp run up in gold prices.
