Gold futures on the Multi Commodity Exchange opened higher at Rs 31,362 per 10 grams on Tuesday against the previous close of Rs 31,331 taking cues from the international markets.
However, the yellow metal for December delivery gave in much of the gains and was trading at Rs 31,306 at 12.30 pm as rupee appreciated against dollar.
In Comex, gold was up by $2 to 1,778 a troy ounce.
