Private sector lenders Axis Bank and ICICI Bank and auto majors Tata Motors and Maruti Suzuki were among the top gainers on the BSE on Tuesday morning. At 11.55 am Axis Bank led the pack on the bourse with gains of 2.31 per cent at Rs 578.05. The share had closed the previous session at Rs 565.
ICICI Bank was up 1.88 per cent at Rs 377.40. The share had ended the previous session at Rs 370.45.
Tata Motors sped up 1.96 per cent to trade at Rs 599.45 as against Rs 587.90 at close on Friday. The markets opened today after an extended break, with Monday being a holiday for Republic Day.
Cipla perked up 1.76 per cent to trade at Rs 686.65 as against Rs 674.75 at close last week.
Maruti Suzuki gained 1.53 per cent to trade at Rs 3,664 as against Rs 3,608.65 at close on Friday.
