Sanjeev Kaushik, a Kerala cadre IAS officer, has been appointed as SEBI whole-time member, an official order said.

He has been appointed for a period of three years or till the age of 65 years, whichever is earlier. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Kaushik's appointment.

Kaushik will come in the place of S Raman, who retired from the post of a whole-time member in early September after completing his five year term.

An MBA in finance from London Business School, Kaushik has over two decades of experience in the financial sector.

Prior to this appointment, Kaushik was Chairman and Managing Director of India Infrastructure Finance Company Ltd (IIFCL), a Government owned company.

It may be recalled that a committee headed by the Cabinet Secretary P K Sinha had conducted interviews for the post of SEBI whole-time Member.

SEBI currently has two full time Members G Mahalingam and Madhabi Puri Buch.
