Tata Motors, which began the day on a firm note, made further ground by late trading on the BSE on Thursday. At 3 pm it was trading at Rs 512.80, a gain of 3.81 per cent on its overnight close at Rs 494.
GAIL (India) sailed up 2.87 per cent to trade at Rs 433.15 as against Rs 421.05 at close yesterday.
The Sensex and the Nifty, meanwhile, soared on value buying of Indian shares, besides positive US jobs data and news that the global oil price slide had halted. The benchmark BSE Sensex was trading higher by nearly 360 points at over 27,250 and the NSE index Nifty was trading up by more than 100 points at over 8,200.
ITC spurted 2.66 per cent to trade at Rs 362.95. The share had closed the previous session at Rs 353.55.
ICICI Bank made rapid strides during the second session to trade at Rs 347.70. This represented a gain of 2.66 per cent on Wednesday’s close at Rs 338.70.
Hindalco Industries spiked up 2.21 per cent to quote at Rs 152.40 as against Rs 149.10 at close yesterday.
