Canara Bank has opened 35 branches all over the country on Monday, an official spokesman announced here. The Thiruvananthapuram Circle of the bank witnessed the inauguration of five new branches at Vizhinjam, Kilimanoor, Kottiyam, Karukachal and Mundakayam.
With this, the total number of branches of the bank in the country has risen to 3,212; in Kerala, the total number is 295, and in the Thiruvananthapuram Circle, 155, the spokesman added.
Canara bank is the Convenor for the State-level Bankers' Committee in Kerala and has the ‘Lead Bank' responsibility for five districts in the State. Besides, they are also sponsors of South Malabar Gramin Bank, a regional rural bank.
