Importer demand weighed down the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR), and it fell to a new low of 132.2 against the dollar, traders said. The LKR opened this morning at 129.69 and slipped as the day went by. The previous low was 131.60, which the LKR hit on March 19.
Dealers attributed this to the quantum of inflows not expecting the levels projected by the Central Bank, and importers buying dollars.
