The Tamil Nadu Government has urged the public to inform it about locations and details of fever through toll free number 104 for State support to curb it.

Against the background of reports of several cases of fever in some districts and ahead of the start of North East monsoon, Chief Minister O Paneerselvam reviewed the mosquito control measures being implemented in the State at the Secretariat, an official release here said.

After the meeting, in which ministers, including Health Minister C Vijayabaskar and top bureaucrats participated, the Government said the public could also inform them at 9444340496 and 044—24350496 besides the toll-free number if they had a fever situation in their towns.

“On receipt of information, all steps will be taken immediately to control it.”

Mosquitoes often lead to fever during rainy season and authorities were taking many steps including fogging for its eradication.

“The general public should however give full cooperation to authorities in this effort and keep their neighbourhoods clean by removing unwanted articles in which water gets accumulated and lead to multiplication of mosquitoes.”

Besides such preventive measures, the Government also has all amenities to handle cases of fever by prompt detection, it said.

For detecting dengue, testing centres are functioning in all districts. Through “Elisa” test, cases of fever or confirmed or negated, the government release said.
