Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Wednesday launched the ‘Jagananna Chedodu’ scheme.
The scheme provides financial assistance to tailors, barbers and dhobis (washermen).
As part of it, ₹10,000 each is provided to 2.47 lakh beneficiaries by transferring a total of ₹247 crore directly into their bank accounts.
The fund transfer has been done under an unencumbered mode which does not allow the bankers to deduct the amount towards previous loans of the beneficiaries, if any.
“The benefits are being given to these sections on a saturation basis, without looking into caste, creed, political affiliation, and can also be claimed by those who did not vote for our party in the previous election, as our motto is that no eligible candidate should be left out,” the Chief Minister said.
If names of eligible candidates are not included in the list, they can visit the village/ward secretariat and apply; the scheme will be extended to them within a week, according to a press release.
