Andhra Pradesh has decided to crack its whip on illegal sand quarrying to regulate the mining operations.
As a first step towards regulation of sand mining, the Industries and Commerce Department, Andhra Pradesh, will control the menace of sand quarrying activities in certain places.
The Government has issued instructions to the collectors. They have been asked to review sand quarrying and constitute special squads with the officials of revenue, panchyat raj, police, transport, mines and geology departments.
They have been asked to encourage public to report on illegal quarrying and mining of sand.
The Government also seeks to streamline the sand quarrying process so that the market requirements are met without disruption to supplies.
