The Bengaluru Zonal office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached 92 properties in connection with the Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam case linked to CM Siddaramaiah. The properties having a market value of approximately 100 crores were attached under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) 2002.

According to a statement released by ED, the attached properties were registered in the name of entities such as housing co-operative societies and persons who are alleged dummies for influential individuals, including MUDA officials.

The statement also read that the ED investigation revealed a large scam in the allotment of MUDA sites by flouting various statutes and government guidelines. “The role of ex-MUDA commissioners, including GT Dinesh Kumar, has emerged as instrumental in the illegal allotment of compensation sites to ineligible entities/individuals,” it added.

With this move, the central agency has so far attached properties with a cumulative market value of ₹400 crore. The agency had previously attached 160 MUDA sites having a market value of ₹300 crore in January of this year.

“This is the biggest scam ever in Muda. It has been registered in the names of influential people, including housing cooperative societies and Muda officials.” Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution & New and Renewable Energy, said on X.

The scam involved the alleged misappropriation in the allotment of compensatory sites. Siddaramaiah’s wife, B.M. Parvathi, allegedly received compensatory plots in a prestigious area of Mysuru, where property values are higher compared to the original location of her land acquired by the MUDA. The opposition has claimed that the total value of the scam could potentially fall within the range of ₹3,000 crore to ₹5,000 crore.

“Under CM Siddaramaiah’s watch, fake documents were used for illegal site allotments, and bribes were routed through co-operative societies. This is not just corruption. It’s organised loot. This is just the beginning; the full truth must come out,” said Shobha Karandlaje, Union Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Labour & Employment, on X (formerly Twitter).

The new attachment of properties comes when the Karnataka HC stayed ED’s summons order to Parvathi and Urban Development and Town Planning Minister Byrathi Suresh earlier this year.
