Colin Sentango, chairman of the Governing Council of the Uganda-based Makerere University Business School, said this while inaugurating the Centre for African Studies at Justice K.S. Hegde Institute of Management at Nitte in Udupi district recently.
He said that the thinking about the African continent has changed now. Once known as the Dark Continent, Africa is endowed with enormous natural resources and development potential. It is emerging as a superpower.
The people of Africa have inclination for getting education for their own betterment. The number of young people desirous to get higher education is more, he said.
Stating that the coming centuries will turn out to be special boons from the development perspective for Africa, Sentango said the establishment of the Centre for African Studies at Justice K.S. Hegde Institute of Management at Nitte is a step in the right direction.
N.S. Shetty, professor emeritus at Justice K.S. Hegde Institute of Management at Nitte, gave an account of the conditions of the African economies with research orientation.
N.K. Thingalaya, Chairman of the Academic Council of the institute, presided over the inaugural programme.
